Ispiciwin (Iᐃᐢᐱᒋᐃᐧᐣ), nêhiyawêwin 1. to travel.
Our Story
"We believe that sustainable practices, artistic expression, and education are essential for the well-being of our planet"
The Ispiciwin Project (Iᐃᐢᐱᒋᐃᐧᐣ, the Project) is an educational outreach project that explores the way in which we travel in our modern age to promote the progressive transition our society is making towards zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). Ispiciwin, in nêhiyawêwin, means to travel, and this Project focuses on the journey we are taking as a society towards more sustainable transportation solutions. The Project, at its core, is a public and industry outreach and awareness undertaking that seeks to promote knowledge around ZEVs and their adoption.
This challenge is addressed head on through the many project nodes of the Ispiciwin Project, which are published and promoted through ispiciwin.ca. Explore our web and social media hubs to gain access to tailored educational materials and multimedia that explore various aspects of the ZEV world, public and industry engagement initiatives, ZEV sector test drive opportunities, and more!
Our Logo
The Ispiciwin Project Logo was developed in collaboration with Bree Island, tribal member of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 8 and owner of ᒥᔪᓈᑿᐣ Miyonâkwan Studio. Bree’s art is an intimate sharing of nêhiyaw/Cree worldviews and teachings, and honours connections to land and spirit.
Ispiciwin, meaning journey and movement in nêhiyawêwin, inspired a logo design that honours how we prepare for journeys and how we move across the land. The circle represents a medicine wheel in motion, and is meant to remind us that when we move through spaces and across the land, we need to respect our relationality, our existence in relation to one another, and the interconnectedness of all things.
