Welcome to the Micro-ZEV Awareness and Perception Survey!

Listening to the Community: The Ispiciwin Project Launches a National Micro-ZEV Survey

Electric bikes and scooters are popping up in more and more Canadian communities, from city streets to campus pathways. But as this new wave of “micro-mobility” grows, so do the questions: How do people really feel about these vehicles? What helps them feel safe using them? And what might be standing in the way of wider adoption?

To help answer those questions, The Ispiciwin Project has launched the Micro-ZEV Awareness and Perceptions Survey, a new grassroots research initiative designed to capture what everyday people think about electric bikes and scooters (known collectively as micro-ZEVs, or micro zero-emission vehicles).

The survey is part of Ispiciwin’s eRide Network, a program that brings together communities, educators, and innovators to explore what a more sustainable, connected transportation future could look like. All participants will be automatically registered in a draw for an Ispiciwin eRide Network Prize Package!

What the Survey Aims to Learn

This short and inclusive survey gathers insights from students, industry workers, and residents on how they perceive and experience e-bikes and e-scooters. Topics include:

  • Awareness and common misconceptions
  • Perceptions of safety, cost, and affordability
  • The role of weather and climate in adoption
  • Local education and infrastructure gaps
  • Motivators and barriers to using electric micro-mobility

By understanding these factors, Ispiciwin hopes to uncover what’s helping (and hindering) adoption of micro-ZEVs across Canada.

Why It Matters

At its heart, this is more than just a data-gathering exercise. The survey is designed to put local voices at the centre of innovation. Instead of pushing technology from the top down, Ispiciwin’s approach begins with listening.

Every response helps paint a clearer picture of how Canadians interact with micro-ZEVs in their daily lives and what could make these sustainable options more accessible and appealing.

The findings will help:

  • Build educational materials that address myths and common concerns
  • Inform policies and programs, from infrastructure upgrades to financial incentives
  • Guide partnerships with local organizations and municipalities
  • Encourage community ownership in shaping a cleaner, more connected future

Turning Insights into Action

Once complete, the survey results will be transformed into a public insights report and visual storytelling materials. This includes infographics, key quotes, and myth-busting content that will be shared on Ispiciwin’s platforms.

These insights will also feed into future education campaigns and partnerships, ensuring that the voices of everyday users help guide the direction of micro-mobility innovation in Canada.

How to Get Involved

Whether you’re a student, commuter, city planner, or local organization, there are several ways to take part:

  • Complete the survey and share it with your community
  • Partner with Ispiciwin to host local ride demos or educational workshops
  • Feature the project in your organization’s newsletter or social channels
  • Use the insights to inform your own planning, policy, or sustainability work

By participating or helping spread the word, you’re supporting a more sustainable and inclusive transportation system. One built with community at its core.

About the eRide Network

The eRide Network is an initiative of The Ispiciwin Project that connects communities, educators, and innovators to explore the role of electric mobility in building a cleaner, more connected future. Through outreach, research, and hands-on engagement, the network promotes awareness and adoption of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), particularly e-bikes and e-scooters, as accessible, affordable, and sustainable ways to move. By combining local insights with inclusive education, the eRide Network helps ensure that Canada’s transition to clean transportation is shaped by the voices and experiences of the people who use it.
